Job Description

Role: Governance Officer Location: Battersea Hours: Monday to Friday, 35hrs per week Type: Temporary, Hybrid (2 days WFH) Rate: Up to £18p/h, depending on experience The Purpose of the Post Our client is seeking an experienced Governance Officer on a temporary basis (6-8 weeks) to provide support to the College Secretariat. The role will primarily involve acting as Secretary for Council and key committees, with a strong emphasis on minute-taking, preparation and distribution of papers, and following up actions. Key Responsibilities * Act as Secretary to the Council and its committees, to undertake agenda and papers preparation and distribution, meeting arrangements, writing up the minutes of the meeting and undertaking follow up actions after the meeting where necessary. * Support the development and maintenance of a governance cycle of business and forward plan, which includes an annual calendar of meetings that discharges all strategic and operational requirements in a timely and appropriate way. * Assist with administrative requirements associated with the appointment, induction, ongoing support of Council members including monitoring terms of office * Administer Council and committee membership to help ensure diversity and appropriate representation * Support the maintenance of the Register of Interests of Council members and relevant staff. * Maintain an awareness of changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment that may impact upon your responsibilities. Person Specification * Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. * Excellent minute taking skills , communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. * Discretion and integrity when dealing with sensitive or confidential information. * A methodical, detail-oriented approach to administrative tasks. * Competent IT skills (Google Workspace or MS Office/365). * Experience in a higher education or public sector
