We are working with a systems integrator in Surrey. They are a collaborative and growing engineering firm with a strong foundation in controls and automation. Their work spans a variety of industries, with a core focus on programming material handling equipment (MHE). They also frequently take on projects in chemical treatment, water treatment, and metal manufacturing - offering diverse opportunities to learn and grow.
The Role
They're looking for a Graduate Controls Engineer with a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Computer Science to join the team. This is an entry-level role designed for a technically curious and motivated individual who's eager to grow within a hands-on, real-world environment. Your main focus will be on controls programming-working alongside senior engineers to develop, test, and refine industrial automation software. While the role will start with programming, there will be opportunities to expand your knowledge into electrical systems and broader control architecture as your skills develop.
What You'll Be Doing
Writing and testing industrial control software (PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, etc.)
Working on live projects in sectors including logistics, chemical treatment, and manufacturing
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and programmers
Learning directly from a senior controls engineer through hands-on experience
Contributing to commissioning, debugging, and system testing on-site (occasional travel may be required)What We're Looking For
A recent graduate in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Computer Science
Strong interest in industrial automation and control systems
Solid foundational programming skills (language flexibility welcome)
Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow through mentorship
Good communication skills and a practical mindset

A starting salary between £24,000 and £32,000, depending on competence
