Trainee/ Qualified Ground worker
Pay: £12.50 per hour
Location: Ilkeston

We're recruiting Trainee Ground workers to join our client's dynamic construction team. If you've got a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in building something that lasts, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
As a trainee ground worker, you'll play a key role in preparing and maintaining construction sites, helping ensure all groundwork is completed to high standards. Tasks include:
Site Preparation - Clearing and marking out construction areas
Excavation - Digging trenches for foundations and drainage
Foundation Work - Laying and levelling concrete
Drainage Installation - Installing pipes, manholes, and infrastructure
Concreting - Mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete
Equipment Operation - Using tools like excavators and cement mixers
Safety Compliance - Keeping the site safe and following regulations
Teamwork - Collaborating with engineers, surveyors, and site managers
Training & Upskilling
This role includes a fully funded Skills Boot-camp if you aren't already qualified, and is ideal for anyone looking to upskill or make a career change. Over three weeks, you'll gain:
Classroom learning and onsite experience
Guided mentoring from industry professionals
Recognised qualifications, including:
Location and avoidance of underground apparatus (NRSWA Unit LA01)
Signing, lighting and guarding (Unit 1)
Excavation in the highway (Unit 2)
Reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials (Unit 3)
Emergency First Aid certification
