Ogi is a leading Welsh telco with big ambitions. We’re a network builder and operator bringing full-fibre services to communities across South Wales. Our Ogi Pro brand provides everything from telephony to managed IT services, alongside our high-capacity wholesale network that spans the M4 corridor.
We’re continuing to grow our engineering crews across South Wales, and we’re now on the lookout for practical, hands-on individuals to join our team and take their first step into fibre and civils work.
This role focuses on pre-enablement and civils work, helping prepare customer sites for connection to our network across South Wales and building the skills you need to grow with us.
About you…
This is a hands-on, field-based role, focused on preparing customer sites and supporting our installation teams so they can get people connected to our network. It’s varied, practical outdoor work, and suits someone who enjoys being active and doing a job where no two days are the same.
Ideally, you’ll be based in or around the Swansea area, as the role involves regular travel to jobs across both East and West Wales. A company van will be provided, so you’ll need to be comfortable with travel as part of the job.
You might have worked in a practical role before, maybe in construction, groundwork, utilities, or something similar. What matters most is that you’re hands-on, adaptable, and ready to develop new skills.
It’s a full-time, permanent role, well-suited to someone who takes pride in a job done safely and professionally, and brings a proactive, customer-first mindset to their work.
You’ll also need:
* A full UK driving licence
* Confidence working in a manual, physical role in all weathers
* Strong communication skills – you’re comfortable speaking with customers and the team
* An understanding of basic civils work (like ducting, digging, rodding or reinstatement)
You’ll stand out if you have:
* Experience in practical roles like groundwork, construction, or utilities
* An understanding of basic civils work (such as ducting, digging, reinstatement, or rodding)
* Familiarity with telecoms civils tasks – for example, laying ducting, rodding with a cobra, or clearing blockages
* Awareness of Health & Safety and environmental standards, including COSHH
Don’t worry if you haven’t done all of this before; we’ll provide full training and support to help you build the skills you need.
What you’ll be doing…
This is a trainee role where you’ll learn by working alongside experienced colleagues, gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills grow. You’ll work closely with your supervisor to manage your daily workload and ensure the highest standards in health, safety and quality.
Your day-to-day will include:
* Helping to prepare customer sites for connection
* Installing fibre sub-duct from the customer premises back to the local network point
* Carrying out small civil tasks such as digging, duct clearing and reinstatement
* Identifying and reporting any blockages or issues
* Speaking with customers to explain the work being done
* Learning how to complete risk assessments and health & safety paperwork
