Job Title: Groundworks Estimator
Location: Central Scotland (Office-based with occasional site visits)
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 +car/car allowance & Bonus + Benefits

Company Overview
We are representing a well-established and respected civil engineering and groundworks contractor, with a proven track record delivering large-scale residential and commercial infrastructure packages throughout Scotland. Due to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, the company is now looking to appoint a Groundworks Estimator to join their commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Estimator or a Site Engineer looking to transition into a pre-construction/commercial role with full training and support provided.
Role Overview
As Groundworks Estimator, you will report directly to the Estimating Director and take ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission. You'll play a crucial role in pricing and planning groundworks and infrastructure packages, interpreting technical documentation, and collaborating with clients, consultants, and internal teams to deliver accurate and competitive estimates.

Key Responsibilities
• Take full ownership of groundworks and civils tenders from initial enquiry through to submission
• Conduct full take-offs and produce bills of quantities (training provided on internal estimating software)
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and site investigation reports to assess ground conditions and constraints
• Identify temporary works requirements and commission additional investigations if necessary
• Prepare and submit RFIs (Requests for Information) to clarify project details
• Attend tender review and client meetings to present and discuss submissions
• Provide handover information and support to construction delivery teams post-award
• Assist with pricing significant variations on live projects as required
Essential Skills & Experience
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical reports
• Strong understanding of groundworks and civil engineering techniques
• Minimum 3 years' experience in an estimating role
OR
Experience as a Site Engineer or Site Manager in groundworks/civil engineering, looking to move into an estimating role (training provided)
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills
• Self-motivated and able to manage workload with autonomy
• Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Desirable Skills & Experience
• Experience with estimating software (training provided if not already used)
• Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel)
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD (advantageous)
• Awareness of Health & Safety regulations in construction
