Groundworks Quantity Surveyor

First People Solutions are proud to be working with a well-established and rapidly growing civil engineering contractor who are specialists in delivering large-scale groundworks, infrastructure and enabling works across the central belt of Scotland.
Due to a strong pipeline of secured projects, our client is looking to expand their commercial team with the appointment of a Quantity Surveyor experienced in groundworks and civils. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to work on technically challenging and high-value packages across residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the commercial aspects of multiple groundworks projects from inception to final account
Measure and value work, prepare interim applications and final accounts
Identify and manage variations, valuations, and change control
Provide accurate forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting
Liaise closely with site teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure project profitability
Assist in procurement and management of subcontractors
Ensure compliance with contracts and mitigate commercial risks
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the groundworks or civil engineering sector (minimum 3 years)
Excellent knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Confident communicator with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Full UK driving licence
