As our business continues to grow, we’re delighted to be expanding our finance team with the addition of a Group Accountant. Based in Exeter, and offering a hybrid working model, this role provides an excellent opportunity to join our vibrant and complex organisation during a period of exciting expansion.
You’ll be joining a fun, collaborative, and dynamic team, where you’ll play a key part in helping to deliver accurate and timely financial and management reporting across a group of entities. You’ll also assist with designing and implementing new finance processes, prepare reports for external stakeholders, and help ensure robust financial controls.
This is a varied and hands-on role, covering both financial and management accounting. It’s ideal for someone with strong knowledge and experience of both, who enjoys getting into the details while also seeing the bigger picture. You’ll need to be adaptable, not shy to take responsibility and ownership, and be confident in building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
* Preparation of full monthly management accounts for multiple entities; including accruals, prepayments, revenue adjustments and balance sheet reconciliations
* Undertaking variance analysis and preparing commentary for review by the Finance Manager and CFO
* Assist with the preparation of monthly forecasts, board slides, KPIs and other reports to stakeholders
* Oversight of the monthly invoicing process - raising invoices, ensuring adherence to customer contracts, and investigating any discrepancies
* Maintenance and reconciliation of intercompany accounts, and raising of quarterly intercompany recharge invoices
* Assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts, and providing support during the annual external financial audit
* Assist with the preparation of quarterly VAT returns
* Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our finance systems, processes, and reporting tools
* Provide task management, support and guidance to junior members of the team
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* CCAB Qualified/Finalist (ACA or ACCA is preferred, but CIMA will also be considered)
* Experience in preparing management accounts to ETB level
* Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUPs, pivot tables, SUMIFs) and experience with finance software (ideally Xero or similar)
* Strong knowledge of IFRS/UK GAAP
* A methodical, detail-oriented approach
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships both internally and externally
Desirable:
* Experience in a financial accounting or similar technical finance role.
* Experience in assisting with, or leading, external audits.
* Experience in a multi-entity or group finance environment.
* Previous exposure to team supervision or mentoring.
* Involvement in finance transformation or systems projects
