Job Description

Job Title:Group Technical Manager Location: Shropshire- covering dual sites. Salary: - Highly competitive Hours: Mon-Thu 9-5pm and Fri 9-4 Benefits:25 days holiday, plus bank holiday and extra day for birthday, Pension (5% employer), option to buy and sell holidays, private medical insurance, flexible working, training opportunities, work phone and other up to date technology, Training courses for external opportunities & flexible working arrangements. Russell Taylor Group have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Technical manager to lead the QA function at a strategic and operational level, maintaining and improving BRC and company standards. The role will be across two sites in close proximity and will collaborate with production, operations, and commercial teams to ensure product quality, customer trust, and long-term business success. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the site's Food Safety Management System as well as acting as HACCP Team Leader • Approve and review suppliers; handle technical/QA enquiries • Conduct internal, supplier, and third-party audits • Manage customer complaints, non-conformances, and corrective actions • Interpret lab and analysis reports; oversee inspections and testing • Deliver staff training, inductions, and continuous development • Drive continuous improvement across QA and technical functions • Develop and execute QA strategies, KPIs, and action plans • Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Finance teams • Mentor, coach, and build a high-performing QA team • Present QA updates to senior leadership and external stakeholders • Maintain QA documentation, audits, records, and compliance • Maintain HACCP and Food Safety training across teams • Achieve CPMU <3.5 and ensure traceability/audit compliance • Conduct mock recalls, supplier audits, GMP audits, and BRC compliance • Manage QA budget, reports, complaints, non-conformance system The Person • Previous experience in a senior Technical OR Quality Management role within food manufacturing. • Experience with BRC standards, HACCP, and QA systems. • Proven strategic and hands on technical skills. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and presentation skills • Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement. • Skilled in building high-performing teams and developing talent. • Happy to work between two sites.
