Job Description
Taylormade Employment are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Grower to join team with one of our long standing clients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and a strong understanding of plant care and maintenance. This role involves overseeing the growth and health of various plants, ensuring optimal conditions for growth, and contributing to the overall success of our agricultural operations.
This a permanent role: Salary £40,000 per annum.
Working hours:
· Flexible hours per week.
Rota basis 5 days per week to include weekend work Saturday – Friday, flexibility during audits and customer technical audits, visits and peak seasons
Responsibilities
* Monitor and manage irrigation systems to ensure plants receive adequate water supply.
* Utilise mechanical knowledge to operate and maintain farming equipment effectively.
* Employ hand tools and power tools for planting, pruning, and harvesting tasks.
* Perform basic mathematical calculations for measuring fertiliser, pesticide applications, and crop yields.
* Engage in heavy lifting as required during planting, harvesting, and maintenance activities.
* Provide animal care when necessary, ensuring the well-being of livestock associated with the growing operations.
* Conduct regular inspections of crops to identify any issues related to pests or diseases.
* Repair and maintain equipment to ensure efficient operation throughout the growing season.
Experience
* Proven experience in horticulture or a related field is preferred.
* Familiarity with irrigation systems and their maintenance is essential.
* Mechanical knowledge is advantageous for equipment repair tasks.
* Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively is required.
* A background in animal care will be considered an asset.
