Hardware Design Engineer | Colchester area | £45,000 - £55,000 | 25 days holiday + bank holidays

The Opportunity

Design high-precision electronics systems used by leading engineering organisations worldwide.

We are looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to join an established, engineering-led company specialising in precision electronic test and measurement systems. This hands-on role lets you take ownership of projects, designing and developing mixed-signal hardware from concept through to production, within a cooperative, technically strong team.

Move beyond routine design work and influence product development while building deep technical expertise as a Hardware Design Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

Define product specifications with Product Management
Design and develop analogue and digital electronics hardware
Create schematics and multilayer PCB layouts using Altium Designer
Select components and improve performance, accuracy, and reliability
Debug and validate hardware using lab equipment
Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams
Take ownership of projects from concept to production
Support products throughout their lifecycle and contribute to design reviews 

Essential Skills & Experience

Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience in hardware design
Strong analogue and digital circuit design knowledge
Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools
Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and test equipment
Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Strong problem-solving and attention to detail 

Desirable Experience

Altium Designer experience
RF circuit design knowledge
Experience in instrumentation, measurement, or high-reliability systems
