Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker – Somerset
Location: Somerset (commutable from Taunton, Wellington, Tiverton, Bridgwater)
Pay Rate: £13.73 - 15.13
Contract Type: Temporary / Ongoing / Ad Hoc Shifts
Description:
We’re looking for compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Workers to join our team at a secure mental health hospital in Somerset. You’ll be supporting adults with complex mental health needs, providing high-quality care in a therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities:
* Support patients with daily activities and care plans in a secure hospital setting
* Promote independence and positive mental health
* De-escalate challenging behaviour using approved techniques
* Work closely with nursing and clinical teams to deliver consistent care
* Maintain accurate records and ensure a safe, supportive environment
Requirements:
* Minimum 6 months’ experience in a mental health setting (hospital or similar)
* Up-to-date mandatory training (BILD accredited PMVA * Practical Basic Life Support or willing to obtain)
* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Reliability, empathy, and professionalism
