We’re seeking an experienced Head Chef to take charge of our clients medium sized care home kitchen and deliver exceptional dining experiences to our residents. This is a rewarding opportunity to combine your culinary skills with real purpose — creating fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals in a warm and supportive environment.
As Head Chef, you’ll lead the kitchen team with confidence and care, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen. You’ll be hands-on, detail-oriented, and driven by high standards, both in food quality and customer satisfaction.
Head Chef Job Details:
* Full Time Contracted Hours
* Shift Times: 7am - 5pm
* Job Type: Permanent
* Salary: £16 - £18ph
Head Chef Duties & Responsibilities:
* Maintaining the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
* Liaising with purchasing companies for food orders
* Developing new dishes and menus
* Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
* Maintaining or raising the profit margins on food
* You are a natural leader, open to new ideas with an innovative approach to cooking, always maintaining high standards.
* You will enjoy mentoring and supporting others and you’ll cherish the little moments with our residents, sharing your love of food with them.
* Seek professional dietetic advice is sought in respect of patients with special needs not met by the routine catering service of the hospital.
* Experience in team leadership.
* Excellent understanding of Health & safety procedures including COSHH. HACCP, Food Hygiene and Allergens.
* Knowledge of dietary requirements for older people and the impact of food types on medication.
* Certification in hospitality or culinary management is a plus.
Role Requirements for Head Chef:
* Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under stressful circumstances.
* Flexibility to work during weekends.
* Able to work as part of a team and individually.
* Advocate for customer service.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
* Able to negotiate, influence, organise time and prioritise activities.
