Job Description
We are recruiting a Head Chef to join a fantastic company based in Newark on a Permanent basis. Working hours will be on a 40hr contract, very rare in the industry.
You’ll be joining a company that has established an inclusive and friendly culture, where team members feel supported by the Management team.
As Head Chef, you’ll be responsible for:
- Starting off the morning by preparing menu items for the day ahead
- Preparing basic menu items according to agreed plan
- Running the breakfast and lunch service, to include ‘home-style’ dishes such as Cooked & Continental breakfast, sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes, pies and pasta
- Taking control of menu costings, reporting back to Management team
- Handling stock control and rotation
- Placing orders with suppliers
- Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations
- Supporting the Catering Assistants where required

What the company are looking for in a successful Head Chef:
- A strong background as a Senior Chef or Head Chef
- Experience with menu costings, stock control and ordering
- An incredibly friendly and welcoming nature to fit with the company’s culture
- A positive and supportive attitude towards colleagues
- A calm and composed approach during busy periods
Working hours: 6:30/7:00am – 2:30/3:00pm with 30 minutes’ lunch
Salary: £30-35k per year, negotiable based on experience, plus discretionary bonus of 7.5% of salary as above
