Job Description

E&M Talent Partners are recruiting for a Head of Commercial for one of Yorkshire's largest Multi Academy Trusts, offering a unique chance to lead and innovate within a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation.

You will be at the helm of commercial strategy and innovation programmes, translating strategic vision into measurable outcomes. This full-time position, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Business Transformation, is pivotal in driving the Trust’s commercial, business development, and transformation ambitions.

The successful candidate will take the lead in delivering the Trust’s commercial strategy, maximising income generation, and ensuring financial sustainability through commercial growth, service development, and external partnerships. This role is not just about maintaining the status quo; it’s about identifying, developing, and implementing innovative commercial opportunities that support the Trust’s growth and long-term sustainability.

Key responsibilities include providing commercial insight and performance analysis to inform executive decision-making, leading business development activities, and securing new income streams aligned with the Trust’s values and strategic priorities. The role also involves market analysis, managing the Trust’s traded services portfolio, and ensuring compliance with law and regulatory frameworks.

Candidates should possess a professional qualification in procurement, commercial management, finance, or business management (e.g., CIPS, CIMA, ACCA, MBA) or be willing to work towards one. Significant experience in a senior commercial, business development, procurement, or operational leadership role is essential. A proven track record of income generation, traded services growth, or commercial service development is highly desirable.

This role requires strong strategic and commercial thinking, the ability to translate strategic vision into practical delivery plans, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Leadership and influencing skills, strong communication abilities, and the flexibility to meet the full range of job requirements are also crucial.
