About the Role:
As Head of Music, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a dynamic and inclusive music curriculum across Key Stage 3 and 4. Working closely with the Head of Performing Arts, you will lead the department’s vision and manage high standards of teaching and learning, while supporting both academic outcomes and a broad enrichment offer.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Leading and developing the Music curriculum from Year 7 to GCSE level
Overseeing the quality of teaching, learning, and student progress within the subject
Managing a team of teachers and peripatetic staff to deliver high-impact lessons and performances
Coordinating instrumental tuition, extracurricular ensembles, and whole-school performances
Inspiring students of all abilities to engage with music, both academically and recreationally
Supporting and mentoring colleagues while promoting best practices across the department
What We’re Looking For:
A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a strong background in Music education
Experience teaching Music at Key Stage 3 and 4, including exam preparation
A proven ability to lead or desire to step into a leadership role within a vibrant department
Knowledge of Music Technology and confidence using iMac suites or recording equipment (desirable)
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
A passion for enrichment, performance, and inclusive musical opportunities for all students
