Head of English – Full Time – Hampshire (Independent School) Start Date: Autumn Term 2025 | Permanent Position | Apply by: 31 May 2025 Are you an experienced English teacher ready to take the next step in your career? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of English to join a growing independent school in Hampshire. This is a full-time, permanent role starting in Autumn 2025. The school provides education for pupils aged 4–19 and is committed to inclusive, student-centred learning. About the Role As Head of English, you will play a key role in leading the department with strategic insight, creativity, and a passion for outstanding teaching. You’ll be responsible for delivering engaging lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, ensuring high achievement for all learners. This role offers the chance to: Lead the English department with vision and purpose Inspire pupils of all abilities, including those with SEND Shape and implement a progressive, inclusive curriculum Deliver English Language and Literature to GCSE and A-Level Foster a love of learning through co-curricular and enrichment activities Use data-driven strategies to track progress and inform planning Who We're Looking For We are looking for an experienced teacher and leader who: Has a strong track record of excellent classroom practice across the key stages Is confident supporting learners with a wide range of needs, including SEND Can guide colleagues with enthusiasm and clarity, building a collaborative team culture Has the ability to plan strategically and implement meaningful departmental change Brings fresh ideas for teaching, assessment and student engagement Is passionate about creating opportunities for every child to succeed and thrive Why Join?
