Job Description
We are looking for a Head of Design & Technology to lead a dynamic and well-established department in a high-achieving secondary school based in Cheltenham.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Design & Technology specialist to take on the role of Head of Department in a thriving and forward-thinking school. The successful candidate will lead the DT department in delivering high-quality lessons across Product Design, Textiles, Engineering and Food Technology.
You will be responsible for the strategic direction, curriculum development, staff management and raising achievement across the subject. You’ll work closely with SLT and other department heads to ensure DT continues to be a high-profile and successful area of the curriculum. The department is well-equipped with CAD/CAM facilities, 3D printers, woodworking machinery, and a fully resourced food suite.
This role will suit a committed educator who can inspire students to think critically, design creatively, and apply technical knowledge with confidence. You’ll also lead enrichment through national competitions, design showcases, and STEM pathways.
Experience and Qualifications
• Qualified Design & Technology Teacher with QTS
• Proven experience teaching KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable)
• Previous middle leadership or second-in-department experience preferred
• A passion for innovation in design and applied learning
• Strong leadership, management and communication skills
• Legal right to work in the UK
