Are you a senior-level Fire Engineer ready to ignite your next chapter? We’re working with a leading UK design and engineering group that’s investing heavily in building a dedicated fire engineering division – and they’re looking for the right person to lead it.
This is a career-defining opportunity to launch and shape a brand-new fire engineering function within a well-established and values-led organisation. With full executive support, a robust design & build platform, and a pipeline of major infrastructure, commercial, and high-risk building projects, you’ll build a function that delivers impact at scale.
🔍 The Opportunity
You’ll be the technical authority on all things fire-related, spearheading strategy, delivery, client engagement, and team development. As Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act, you’ll play a key role in shaping safer, more resilient buildings.
✅ Key Responsibilities:

Establish and lead a new in-house Fire Engineering division
*
Provide technical expertise across passive fire protection, risk, and remediation
*
Act as Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act
*
Work closely with the Fire Protection division on complex, multidisciplinary projects
*
Lead business development and client engagement activities
*
Recruit and manage a high-performing team of fire engineers
*
Deliver innovative solutions across infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects
🎯 Ideal Candidate:
*
Chartered or highly experienced Fire Engineer with 10+ years’ experience
*
Strong grounding in passive fire protection, risk assessment, and remedial design
*
Confident in leading strategy, delivery, and business growth
*
BEng/BSc in engineering (mechanical, structural or building services), with MSc in Fire Engineering preferred
*
Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE)
*
Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent communication and client-facing skills
