Job Title: Head of Health, Safety & Security

The Role

We are working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business to recruit a Head of Health, Safety & Security.

This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, responsible for leading the Health & Safety function across a complex, high-risk environment including yard operations, vessels and associated facilities.

You will take ownership of H&S strategy, compliance and day-to-day delivery, ensuring standards are not only met but consistently improved across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the company's Health & Safety strategy

Ensure full compliance with UK legislation and industry standards

Oversee audits, inspections, risk assessments and safe systems of work

Manage permit to work systems and emergency response planning

Lead incident investigations and drive corrective actions

Work closely with senior leadership to embed a strong safety culture

Deliver training, communication and continuous improvement initiatives

Maintain and develop ISO standards (ISO9001 / ISO45001)

What We're Looking For

Proven experience in a senior H&S leadership role

Background in a high-risk environment such as engineering, shipbuilding, construction or heavy manufacturing

Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and compliance

Experience managing H&S systems, audits and investigations

Confident engaging at all levels, from shop floor to boardroom

NEBOSH General Certificate essential, Diploma preferred
