TeacherActive is currently recruiting a Head of Mathematics to join a secondary school in Pembrokeshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking leader to take responsibility for the development and success of the Mathematics department.
The Role
Lead and manage the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
Inspire and support a team of Mathematics teachers
Develop and implement an ambitious curriculum that meets the needs of all learners
Monitor pupil progress, attainment, and achievement across the department
Support colleagues with planning, assessment, and classroom practice
Promote high expectations and a positive culture of learning
Lead departmental improvement and contribute to whole-school priorities
Teach Mathematics across the secondary age range
Requirements
✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
✅ Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
✅ Previous experience teaching Mathematics within a secondary school
✅ Proven leadership or departmental responsibility experience
✅ Excellent classroom management and communication skills
✅ Strong understanding of curriculum development and pupil progress
✅ Ability to motivate, support, and develop colleagues
✅ Ambitious, organised, and committed approach to education
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
