Job Title: Head of Maths – January 2026 (Maternity Cover)
Location: Surrey (Camberley area)
Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed Term (January 2026 – August 2026, potential extension to January 2027)
Salary: Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale + TLR (dependent on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Mathematics to lead a thriving department from January 2026. This is a maternity cover post running until August 2026, with the possibility of extension to January 2027.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping Maths provision and leading a committed team within a supportive secondary school environment.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Mathematics department.

Deliver outstanding Maths lessons across KS3–KS4.
*
Inspire, motivate, and support both students and staff.
*
Contribute to whole-school improvement and strategic planning.
*
Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.
Candidate Requirements
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
*
Proven track record of teaching Mathematics up to GCSE (A Level desirable).
*
Experience in leading a department or taking on responsibility within a Maths team.
*
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
*
A commitment to raising achievement and fostering a positive learning environment.
