Location: Havant (Hybrid Working Available)
Contract Type: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Operations to lead and evolve operational delivery across a complex, fast paced business within the defence sector. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this pivotal role will be responsible for the performance and leadership of four key departments - Production, Supply Chain, Design Engineering, and Project & Systems Engineering. You will overseeing a total team of approximately 130 including four direct reports.
As a senior member of the leadership team, you will shape and implement delivery strategy, ensure operational excellence, and drive continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the operational function, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer requirements.
Develop and execute integrated delivery strategies across multiple functions.
Oversee complex programmes and ensure project delivery against performance, time, cost and quality metrics.
Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, including customers and suppliers.
Monitor and report on KPIs, forecasts, and budgetary performance.
Champion innovation, continuous improvement, and a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory standards, including sustainability objectives.About You
Significant senior leadership experience in operations, programme delivery or manufacturing within a complex or regulated industry (defence experience desirable).
Proven success in leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering business-wide operational performance.
Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience of budget management and resource planning.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and a commitment to excellence.
