Salary: £50,000-£60,000 per year
Location: Manchester (office-based initially, hybrid once embedded)
About the Role
We’re recruiting a Head of Operations for a Manchester-based FinTech startup delivering flexible payment plan solutions. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for scaling operations, building teams, and ensuring the business runs smoothly as it grows. You’ll work closely with founders and investors to create the operational backbone of the company.
What you’ll do
*
Define and deliver the operations strategy across customer, merchant, risk, and compliance functions
*
Build and lead operational teams, hiring and mentoring talent as the company scales
*
Implement KPIs, SLAs, and dashboards to monitor performance and drive efficiency
*
Collaborate with product & tech to automate processes and integrate AI where valuable
*
Ensure compliance with regulations including payments, KYC, and AML
*
Manage budgets, vendors, and resources effectively
*
Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the business
What we’re looking for
*
5+ years in senior operations roles, ideally in FinTech, BNPL, payments, or high-growth startups
*
Experience scaling operations and building teams from early stage upwards
*
Strong knowledge of payments, compliance, and regulatory requirements
*
Data-driven, tech-savvy, with understanding of automation and AI tools
*
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
*
Hands-on approach — strategic thinker who can also roll up sleeves
