In the heart of Luton Bedfordshire, a ‘Good’ Secondary School are looking for a Head of Pastoral Support to work as part of the Year 12 and 13 / Sixth Form team to provide a professional and courteous pastoral support service for all post-16 students. The Head of Pastoral Support will also ensure that a comprehensive administrative support service is provided for students, staff and visitors to facilitate the smooth running of the Post 16 provision. This post requires dedication and a highly efficient, organised, flexible and responsible approach.
The Head Teacher is looking for an ambitious Head of Pastoral Support who is keen to add value to an expanding department.

JOB DESCRIPTION
* Head of Pastoral Support
* ASAP Start
* Permanent (Employed directly by the school)
* £ 25,720 Actual salary per annum
* Located in Luton, Bedfordshire
PERSON SPECIFICATION
* Supporting with Head of Year 12 and 13 with transition from Year 11 to Key Stage 5 and Year 12 into Year 13 including:
* • Helping students to understand and value the schools Post 16 provision.
* Supporting students to make appropriate Year 12 / 13 choices.
* Helping students to adjust to Post 16 methods of study during independent study. Monitoring and intervening as appropriate.
* Tracking attendance, including letters and phone calls to parents where necessary.
* Meeting with students and parents when necessary.
* Knowing student outcomes and supporting next steps i.e. university placement or apprenticeship.
* • Assisting with exam results on both GCSE and GCE pre results days and providing full support to all students on actual results day. •
* Supervise Exam Hour 2 hours per week. Mentoring Students / Intervention:
* Taking supervised study sessions (approximately 10 hours per week).
* Planning pastoral intervention strategies.
* Mentoring individual students where appropriate
* Demonstrable work experience within a fast-moving customer focused environment.
* Demonstrable experience using administrative processes and procedures, including use of ICT
* Able to converse with ease with visitors, colleagues, parents, students, etc. and provide effective help or advice in accurate and fluent spoken English.
* Able to develop constructive working relationships with all academy staff, whilst always maintaining a high level of professionalism.
