GSL Education’s London Branch is delighted to be recruiting an experienced Head of Pupil Services for a lively, high‑achieving secondary school in Newham. If you are a people‑centred leader who can inspire teams and drive outstanding support for every student, this Head of Pupil Services opportunity could be your perfect next step. As Head of Pupil Services, you will take charge of a wide remit covering reception, attendance, admissions, pastoral support, cover management, and first‑aid provision. The school is proud of its caring ethos and needs a forward‑thinking Head of Pupil Services who can keep standards high while always putting pupils first. Responsibilities Lead and develop all pupil‑services staff, promoting a positive, efficient, and student‑focused culture. Act as the key contact for pupils, parents, staff, and external agencies on all pupil‑services matters. Ensure clear communication between both school sites so services remain consistent and high‑quality. Reception & General Administration: oversee a welcoming and professional front‑of‑house team. Attendance: guide the attendance team to record, report, and follow up on absences quickly. Admissions: line‑manage the admissions officer, working with local authorities, feeder schools, and families to secure smooth pupil intake. Pastoral Services: supervise Pastoral Assistants, ensuring pupils meet expectations and end‑of‑day reports are completed on time. Cover Management: maintain a robust cover system so teaching and support roles are always filled. First Aid: oversee first‑aid provision, including staff training, equipment checks, and compliance with procedures. Requirements Proven success as a Head of Pupil Services or in a comparable senior school‑support role. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate multidisciplinary teams. Deep understanding of attendance, admissions, pastoral care, and safeguarding. Excellent communication, organisation, and IT skills (SIMS or similar MIS). Calm, solution‑focused approach and the drive to improve student experiences. Relevant qualification in education, administration, or school business management (desirable).
