About the role:
Smart Teachers is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual for the role of Head of Pupil Services at a well-established and high-achieving secondary academy based across two sites in East London.
This is a key strategic and operational role, responsible for the smooth and effective delivery of a wide range of pupil-focused services that are essential to the daily running of the school. The post holder will manage and develop the Pupil Services team, ensuring high standards of support for students, families, staff and external agencies.
Key responsibilities:
Lead and manage pupil services across both school sites
Oversee and coordinate areas including reception, admissions, attendance, first aid, and cover
Line manage key operational and pastoral staff to ensure smooth daily school operations
Coordinate Free School Meal provision, student medical healthcare plans, and immunisation programmes
Support safeguarding procedures and act as a central point of contact for students and families
Provide diary and meeting support to the Senior Leadership Team
Hold responsibility for delegated budget management within pupil services
The successful candidate will have:
Demonstrable experience of leading operational or pupil services in a school setting
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A collaborative, student-centred approach to leadership
Confidence working with diverse stakeholders including parents, staff, external agencies and senior leaders
A proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities
A strong understanding of safeguarding and compliance procedures
