Remote (with travel) | £50,000 - £70,000 + Bonus + Benefits

The Role – What You’ll Be Doing
As Head of Quality, you will lead and shape all aspects of the quality function. Reporting to the Operations Director, you’ll ensure our assessments, centres, and teams meet the highest internal and external standards, and that Construction EPA continues to set the benchmark in the industry.
You will be responsible for:
Leadership & People Management
*
Lead a team of freelance Internal and External Quality Assurers
*
Drive performance, collaboration, and accountability across your team
*
Provide transparent reporting on quality performance to senior leadership
Operational Excellence
*
Deliver against quality KPIs and ensure compliance with Ofqual and CASS (Centre Assessment Standards Scrutiny) requirements
*
Conduct internal audits across Construction EPA and client assessment centres
*
Oversee quality assurance of assessments, assessor performance, and IQA checks
*
Ensure assessment outcomes are timely, robust, and meet agreed service levels
Strategic Quality Oversight
*
Lead the design and embedding of the organisation’s full CASS strategy (Strategy for Centre Assessment Standards Scrutiny)
*
Input into standardisation, webinar content, centre adaptations, and assessment development
*
Collaborate with Heads of Assessment Delivery, Development, and Client Services to align and embed quality into every stage of the apprentice journey
Sector Contribution
*
Use your construction knowledge to advise on sector-specific improvements and innovation
*
Support the implementation of regulatory updates and changes to assessment plans
*
Drive continuous improvement through feedback, data, and stakeholder engagement
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll be an experienced, strategic, and hands-on quality leader, with a strong grasp of both operational delivery and regulatory compliance, especially within apprenticeships or assessment.
We’re looking for someone with:
*
Leadership experience in a quality function, ideally within apprenticeships or an awarding body
*
Proven ability to manage and develop a high-performing quality team (internal and freelance)
*
A strong track record of implementing IQA/EQA processes and regulatory frameworks
*
A background in construction (essential) to understand the assessment context
*
Experience in auditing, CASS (Centre Assessment Standards Scrutiny), Ofqual compliance, and standardisation
*
A relevant quality or leadership qualification (desirable but not essential)
