Are you an experienced and visionary Head of Science ready to lead a dynamic department and inspire the next generation of scientists? An Outstanding mixed-gender secondary school in Enfield is seeking an exceptional leader for a permanent, full-time position as Head of Science, starting this September. This is a pivotal opportunity to drive excellence in scientific education across all key stages within a supportive and high-achieving school.
What you'll be doing:
* You'll be leading, managing, and developing the Science department, ensuring the delivery of an outstanding curriculum across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
* It's about inspiring students and staff, promoting rigorous scientific inquiry, and overseeing practical experimentation and innovative teaching.
* You will be responsible for curriculum development, assessment, resource management, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
* You'll also be expected to teach a reduced timetable of Science lessons, modelling excellent practice.
What we're looking for:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialism in a Science subject.
* Significant proven experience teaching Science effectively across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, with a strong track record of excellent student outcomes.
* Prior leadership experience within a Science department or a relevant leadership role.
* A deep and current understanding of the Science curriculum, excellent pedagogical skills, and a commitment to nurturing scientific talent.
* Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
