Job Title: Head of Service – Housing
Contract: Interim – Full Time
Day Rate: £358.34 LTD / £282 PAYE
Location: South West (Hybrid working available)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced interim Head of Service – Housing to provide strategic and operational leadership across a broad range of housing services. This is a pivotal role within the Operational Management Board, offering an opportunity to influence and shape housing outcomes at a senior level.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the delivery, development and performance of Housing Needs & Homelessness, Tenancy Services, Rent, and Private Sector Housing functions.
Drive forward housing strategies, business plans and policies aligned with customer-centric service delivery.
Provide effective leadership to ensure services reduce homelessness and rough sleeping, increase the provision of affordable housing, and improve housing standards.
Collaborate across internal departments and with external partners to foster innovation and drive service improvement.
Represent housing services within the senior leadership team, ensuring alignment with wider organisational objectives.
Ensure full compliance with housing legislation and relevant policies while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Promote tenant engagement and co-production through forums and local involvement initiatives.
Oversee effective income recovery strategies to ensure financial resilience and value for money.
Champion workforce development and succession planning within the housing team.Requirements:
Extensive senior management experience within the housing sector.
Strong leadership credentials with a track record of service transformation and stakeholder collaboration.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, with a housing-related qualification (Level 5 minimum).
Chartered membership of CIH or working towards it.
Proven experience managing significant budgets and delivering cost-effective results.
