A respected and long-established Civil Engineering contractor, delivering complex infrastructure projects across water, wastewater, coastal, and flood protection, is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to support the business across multiple sites in the South of England. Health and Safety Advisor Salary & Benefits Circa £45,000 salary (dependent on experience) Company vehicle or car allowance 22 days holiday plus bank holidays Contributory pension scheme (up to 10% matched) Private healthcare Discretionary annual bonus Ongoing professional development and support towards CMIOSH Health and Safety Advisor Job Overview Work closely with project teams and the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to ensure compliance with safety legislation and company standards Supporting a proactive safety culture across sites. Support the delivery and continual improvement of Health, Safety, and Wellbeing practices across civil engineering and marine infrastructure projects. Carry out site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks, ensuring high standards are upheld. Provide practical, hands-on advice to operational teams to maintain CDM 2015 compliance and meet internal H&S policies and procedures. Assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents, contributing to root cause analysis and corrective actions. Promote wellbeing initiatives and mental health awareness across project sites. Maintain accurate records and produce safety reports to support site and business-wide decision making. Health and Safety Advisor Job Requirements Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar H&S advisory role within civil engineering or infrastructure projects. NEBOSH General Certificate or Construction Certificate (minimum); working towards further qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 5 or NEBOSH Diploma) desirable. Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and health and safety management systems. Good interpersonal skills and ability to engage with site-based teams and subcontractors. CSCS card essential; Mental Health First Aid or SEATS training desirable.
