Health & Safety Advisor - Highways & Civil Engineering
📍 Essex, North-East London & Surrounding Areas

We are working on behalf of a well-established and growing infrastructure contractor to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor with a strong background in highways and civil engineering. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic HSE team supporting a wide range of operations including road surfacing, streetlighting, traffic management, and infrastructure works.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert H&S compliance advice across multiple civil engineering projects
Conduct audits, incident investigations, and implement corrective actions
Mentor staff at all levels to promote a positive safety culture
Develop and review risk assessments, method statements, and procedures
Maintain legal registers and compliance evaluations
Collaborate with contract managers and supervisors to ensure adherence to H&S policies
Support reporting and performance tracking for the wider QHSE teamWhat We're Looking For:
NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum); Diploma or equivalent preferred
Proven experience in a similar role within highways or civil engineering
Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and temporary works
Confident in drafting safe systems of work and implementing site controls
Excellent communication and mentoring skills
