Health, Safety and Facilities Officer
Based in Wandsworth, London | £36,000-£42,000 per annum | Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Proactive Global is currently hiring on behalf of a successful engineering/manufacturing business for an experienced and driven Health, Safety and Facilities Officer to join their small and friendly office team based in Wandsworth, London. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about health & safety and looking to further develop their career within a global company.
Role Overview
In this position, you'll support the administration and implementation of the organisation's global health and safety policies and oversee facilities management across their London headquarters and international subsidiaries. You'll play a pivotal role in compliance, audits, contractor management, and building maintenance. Occasional international travel will be required.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and manage the integrated OH&S Management System in line with ISO 45001 & ISO 45003 and legislative requirements.
Manage and update the risk assessment register, training assessors in the UK and overseas.
Conduct and oversee internal audits across ISO 45001, 45003, 14001, and 9001.
Deliver internal auditing training and manage the master audit schedule.
Ensure all documentation and records for external audits are current and compliant.
Oversee workplace inspections using Kanban methodology.
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Manage and supervise external contractors, planned/reactive maintenance, and performance tracking.
Line manage the Housekeeping team, including workload and leave approvals.
Act as the primary point of contact for health & safety queries across the organisation.
Develop and deliver H&S inductions and training sessions.
Chair regular Health & Safety meetings.
Oversee building services maintenance, including utilities contracts and supplier negotiations.
Coordinate mental health and wellbeing activities in collaboration with internal teams.
Ensure robust security systems are in place across multiple sites.
Respond to out-of-hours building emergencies, so candidates must be within reasonable commuting distance to Wandsworth. Requirements
Qualifications:
NEBOSH General Certificate (preferred)
TechIOSH/GradIOSH or Level 6 H&S Qualification (preferred)Experience:
At least 1 year managing a Health & Safety Management System
Strong knowledge of ISO compliance (45001, 45003, 14001, 9001)Skills:
Excellent written communication and report writing
Confident in using tools such as Microsoft Teams, Trello, and cloud-based systems
Collaborative, proactive, and organised
Working Hours
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
42.5 hours per week
Includes two paid 15-minute tea breaks and an unpaid 30-minute lunch break
