Our client, a respected educational institution in Kendal, is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Maintenance Person to join their team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for ensuring the well-being of students and staff, and it may extend through the summer term or longer!
Position: Health and Safety Maintenance Person
Contract Type: Temporary
Hourly Rate: £16.50 - £18.75 (depending on experience)
Working Pattern: Full Time (Monday to Friday, 5+ hours daily). Hours can be discussed in interview.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Health and Safety Maintenance Person, you will play an essential role in maintaining a safe and clean environment. You will work with the cleaning manager to carry out checks. Your duties will include:
Conducting regular inspections of classrooms, corridors, toilets, and kitchens for cleanliness and safety.
Checking firefighting equipment and ensuring all safety signs are visible and legible.
Ensuring that toilets are stocked with necessary supplies and sanitary disposal units are in good order.
Identifying and mitigating slip, trip, or fall hazards throughout the school.
Managing access routes for emergency services and ensuring fire exits are clear.
Performing weekly and monthly checks of equipment, including alarms, lighting, and fire safety measures.Requirements:
Enhanced DBS check (essential)
Previous experience in a school setting is beneficial
Willingness to undergo safeguarding training (provided by the school)
