Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Lead Health and Safety manager to work for an established fit-out and building contractor and take overall responsibility for health, safety and environmental standards across all construction and fit-out projects for the company.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining strategic responsibility with regular site involvement. You will work closely with Directors and several members of the senior management team to ensure health and safety remains at the heart of everything they do.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the company's health, safety and environmental function.
* Provide expert H&S advice and guidance to directors, project teams and site management.
* Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety tours across multiple fit-out projects.
* Develop, review and maintain risk assessments, method statements and construction phase plans.
* Monitor compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and other relevant UK health and safety legislation.
* Support project teams in identifying hazards and implementing effective control measures.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
* Monitor subcontractor competence, RAMS and H&S performance.
* Develop and deliver toolbox talks, briefings and health and safety training.
* Maintain and continually improve the company's H&S policies, procedures and management systems.
* Prepare regular H&S reports and performance information for senior management.
* Keep up to date with changes in legislation, guidance and industry best practice.
* Support the business with environmental and sustainability initiatives where required.
About You
You will be an experienced health and safety professional with a strong background in construction and/or fitout. You will be confident working at both site and senior management level and able to provide practical solutions rather than simply identify problems.
We are looking for someone who is:
* NEBOSH-qualified
* TechIOSH, GradIOSH or CMIOSH — or working towards professional membership.
* Experienced within construction, fit-out, refurbishment or a similar environment.
* Practical, approachable and able to build strong relationships with project teams and subcontractorsBefore You Apply
