GSL Education London Branch is excited to be recruiting an experienced Health and Safety Manager to work at a vibrant and high-achieving secondary school in the heart of Westminster. If you're a Health and Safety Manager who is passionate about keeping school environments safe, efficient, and compliant, this is the role for you!
As the Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of health and safety across the school, ensuring staff, students, and visitors are kept safe and well-protected. You will play a key part in the daily operations of the school and will have a real impact on the learning environment.
This is an amazing opportunity for a skilled and motivated Health and Safety Manager to take on a new challenge in a supportive and dynamic setting. The successful Health and Safety Manager will work closely with senior leaders and site teams to maintain a safe and secure school environment.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all health and safety procedures in line with legal and school regulations
Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments
Update and maintain health and safety policies and records
Provide training and guidance to staff on safety procedures
Respond to and manage any health and safety incidents or concerns
Work closely with school leaders and external partners to ensure full compliance
Lead on fire safety checks and emergency planning
Ensure equipment and facilities meet required safety standards
Requirements:
Proven experience working as a Health and Safety Manager, preferably within an educational or public sector setting
NEBOSH or similar health and safety qualification essential
Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
A proactive and problem-solving approach
Experience with risk assessments, audits, and reporting systems
