Role Overview
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Health & Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in promoting a culture of safety across all areas of the business. This role is responsible for ensuring full legal compliance with current legislation and best practice, while proactively planning for future regulatory changes. You will lead on all aspects of health and safety, embedding a proactive and collaborative approach that protects our people, our clients, and our reputation.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Health & Safety policies, procedures, and systems.
* Conduct regular site and office-based risk assessments and safety audits, producing strategic reports and improvement plans.
* Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant H&S legislation (including CDM 2015), industry standards, and client requirements.
* Manage accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis, ensuring learning is captured and shared across the business.
* Liaise with insurers, consultants, and external bodies to manage risk and uphold standards.
* Deliver internal safety training and toolbox talks and support line managers in maintaining safe working practices.
* Provide professional H&S advice to project teams, site managers, and directors.
* Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment and plant are compliant and inspected.
* Track and report key safety KPIs to the senior leadership team.
* Support the implementation of Quality Assurance systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Represent the company during client audits, pre-construction meetings, and regulatory inspections.
* Drive the integration of health and safety considerations into business decision-making and planning.

Essential Skills & Experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a dedicated Health & Safety Manager role within construction or structural refurbishment.
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate and/or Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
* Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, CDM 2015, and best practice guidance.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead at all levels.
* Proven experience conducting training, audits, and investigations.
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Familiarity with electronic H&S management systems and digital reporting tools.
* A champion for quality, continuous improvement, and behavioural safety initiatives.
* Confident in integrating safety into business-wide risk management and performance planning.
