Job Description

Health Economist - Inside IR35 We are seeking a qualified and analytically rigorous Economist to support the evaluation of prevention and public health interventions through robust *cost-benefit analysis* (CBA). This role will focus on quantifying the economic and social benefits of prevention interventions of local residents. The ideal candidate will bring a strong grounding in economics, experience with applied policy analysis, and a deep interest in health equity and public value. This is a fast-paced, impact-focused role suited to a proactive and independent consultant who can hit the ground running. Key responsibilities: • Lead economic evaluations, including cost-benefit analysis, cost effectiveness of specific interventions • Quantify and monetise health and social outcomes using established economic evaluation techniques • Gather, clean and analyse data related to health, demographics, social outcomes and service use • Develop logic models and impact pathways to understand causal links between interventions and outcomes • Work closely with colleagues at the council to ensure interdisciplinary coherence • Produce reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders • Support stakeholders’ engagement by translating complex economic evidence into compelling insights Essential requirements: • Postgraduate degree in Economics, Heath economics, Public Policy, or related field. • Experience in conducting cost-benefit analyses, preferably in the health and social policy domain • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills Desirable: • Knowledge of public health metrics, e.g. QALY • Experience working within or alongside local or national government, NHS, Public health bodies, • Understanding equity weighing and methods to assess social impact Application process: * Please submit a CV and Cover letter detailing your experience with economic evaluation Rate of Pay Umbrella: £500 per day Location: Waltham Forest Town Hall, Forest Road, Walthamstow, E17 4JF
