Corrie Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established Civil Engineering Contractor for a Health & Safety Advisor based in Inverness.
Basic Objective:
Provide support to the management team in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment by providing guidance, advice, and practical solutions related to health, safety, and environmental issues. This role involves helping to implement safety policies, conducting risk assessments, ensuring legal compliance, and fostering a culture of safety across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Performing regular site inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations & company policies and procedures.
* Developing and delivering training sessions on health and safety, including the correct use of safety equipment as required
* Advising on a range of specialist Health & Safety areas, e.g., WAH , Scaffolding , hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational diseases.
* Ensuring compliance with mandatory regulations and client’s requirements.
* Ensuring safety standards and policies that all staff must adhere to are met.
* Assisting in implementing corrective measures to mitigate future risks
* Advising Site manager / Project managers / Foremen and leaders on health and safety related matters
* Providing Health & Safety Awareness communications across the business
* Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly and safely
* Identifying potential hazards and help determine ways of reducing risk
* Staying up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor (preferably within civil engineering or construction)
* NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
* In-depth knowledge of current H&S legislation and industry best practices
* Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills
* Strong organisational and report-writing abilities
* Full UK driving licence
