Astute's Power Team is partnering with a one of the UK's largest Waste Management Companies. They are building a new Energy from Waste Power Station in Cheshire, which when completed, will be capable of processing 600,000 tonnes of waste per year - enough energy to power 125,000 homes. The Health & Safety Manager is an integral role on site, you will be responsible for shaping & maintaining the Safety Culture on site by ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and promoting a proactive approach to health, safety and wellbeing. Responsibilities and duties of the Health and Safety Manager role Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for: Managing the sites Health & Safety communications. Developing and managing the risk assessment / accident reporting system. Liaising with external bodies. Monitoring the performance of the plants health & safety program and identify opportunities to increase effectiveness. Carry out on site audits and investigations. Developing a strong H&S culture. Manage and update the sites H&S systems. Coordinate emergency response training. Providing H&S training for O&M staff Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: Ideally qualified with a NEBOSH Diploma at Level 6 or an NVQ 5 equivalent Graduate Membership of IOSH Personal skills The Health and Safety Manager role would suit someone who has: Strong background in Health and Safety gained in a heavy process or engineering environment. This can include Power Generation, Refineries, Manufacturing, FMCG, Food, Petrochemical etc At least five years experience in a Health & Safety Management position Proven ability to influence, coach, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels Excellent interpersonal and communication skills A proactive and flexible approach with strong problem-solving skills A full, valid UK driving licence Salary and benefits of the Health and Safety Manager role Competitive Salary Benefits Package Car Allowance Bonus Opportunity Opportunity to work on one of the newest Energy from Waste plants in EnglandINDPOW Astute People are acting as an employment agency in relation to this vacancy.
