Job Description

Location: Galway, Ireland Company Details: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Officer to join a fast-growing, innovation-led construction firm based in Galway. Renowned for delivering high-profile residential and commercial developments, the company promotes a culture centred on collaboration, quality, and continuous professional development. As a Health & Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across live construction projects. The role involves conducting site audits, implementing best practice policies, and working closely with site teams to foster a culture of safety. This position is ideally suited to a proactive and detail-oriented professional, passionate about upholding the highest safety standards while contributing to a dynamic and supportive team environment. Responsibilities: * Champion compliance with OCC’s QEHS policies across all active sites. * Manage health and safety documentation through the Hammertech system (training will be provided) * Conduct regular site audits and follow up on corrective actions. * Deliver training and guidance to staff and subcontractors on all health & safety matters. * Oversee method statements, toolbox talks, and risk assessments. * Monitor certification for personnel, tools, and equipment. * Investigate and report on incidents, driving continuous safety improvement. * Partner with site teams to ensure safe work practices, particularly for high-risk activities. Requirements: * Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar health and safety role, preferably with a main contractor. * Degree in Health & Safety or related field. * In-depth understanding of Irish H&S legislation and industry best practices. * Strong communication and leadership skills. * Proficient in MS Office and general digital tools. * Full Irish driving licence required.
