Hearing-Impaired Teaching Assistant – ALN Base Location: Chepstow, Monmouthshire Contract: Full-Time Pay: From £90 per day Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional learning needs? Do you have experience working in education or with children and young people? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Hearing-Impaired Teaching Assistant to join our small, supportive ALN base within a friendly secondary school in Chepstow. About the Role: The ALN base provides specialist support for a small number of pupils with diverse additional needs, including communication difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and developmental differences. We are committed to inclusion, personalised learning, and helping every student reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Work 1:1 or in small groups to support pupils’ learning, communication, and emotional wellbeing Assist with classroom activities, adapted learning tasks, and use of visual or sensory resources Support teachers and the ALNCo (Additional Learning Needs Coordinator) in delivering individual education plans (IEPs) Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all learners Collaborate with staff, families, and external specialists as needed We Are Looking For: A motivated and caring individual, ideally with experience in education, youth work, or SEND/ALN environments Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team A positive, flexible, and resilient attitude A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion BSL (British Sign Language) skills or a willingness to develop them (preferred but not essential) An understanding of the challenges and strengths associated with being hearing impaired (lived experience welcomed) Requirements -          Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply) -          Education Workforce Council registration. -          Able to provide 2 most recent references. -          Undertake safeguarding training (provided by Teaching Personnel). All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
