Job Description

Introduction: We are an agency recruiting for a local Breakdown & Recovery Operator. Our client, a well-established, local automotive business, is looking to recruit an Experienced Heavy Recovery Driver to join their team.

Job Title: Experienced Heavy Recovery Driver

Available Locations: Depot based from either Cranham (nr Upminster), Essex or Medway, Kent

Description: Attend broken-down Commercial Vehicles (Lorries and Buses) by the roadside load onto the Recovery Truck and take to designated drop-off point i.e. workshop or company depot.

Licence: Full, UK, HGV Class 1 (LGVC+E) licence with a maximum of 6 points on licence for minor endorsements and no outstanding DD, DR or CD penalties.

Digi-Tacho: Required on starting

Driver's CPC: Full DCPC required (or be prepared to complete it before starting)

Experience: Experience of Heavy Breakdown & Recovery is essential.

The company will consider applications from ex-military personnel with relevant heavy recovery driving experience.

Training: Our client offers Induction training which includes safe use of the vehicle provided, Health & Safety and paperwork & procedures.

People Skills: All applicants must have superb customer care skills and be able to communicate effectively with the general public in stressful and difficult situations.

Applicants must be prepared to work in all weather conditions, be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.

A good level of fitness is required as the work can be very heavy.

Shift Pattern & Hours: To be conformed; will include day, night, weekend working plus on-call as required by the company.

Starting Salary: Minimum £18.00 per hour. With higher rates paid for IVR training, experience and skills.

OTE: From £46,000 up to £60,000 or higher; depending on pay rate and hours worked

Note: This is a self-employed role (not Zero Hours). The company can assist in the setting up of self-employed status from a recommended Umbrella Company, if required.

Job Status: Permanent with immediate interviews and starts.

Vetting: Our client will undertake vetting including referencing for up to 5 years. They willy also require a police check. If you have any criminal convictions or cautions in the UK or abroad you MUST declare them to us at the time of applying.
