Job Description
HGV Class 1 (C+E) Night Driver – York
Pay Rate: £17.75 per hour (PAYE) + £70 monthly night allowance
Hours: Monday to Friday, 20:30 – 06:30 (45 hours per week)
Contract: Agency – Temp to Perm
Pertemps are currently recruiting reliable and experienced Class 1 (C+E) Night Drivers for our client based in York. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading logistics operation with the chance of a permanent role after a successful temporary period.
The Role
You will be trunking freight from the York depot to the Coventry Hub, then transferring loads to the Ryton Hub before returning to York.
The start time is 20:30 and the finish time is 06:30.
If you return to site earlier than planned, you will be required to carry out shunting duties until the end of your shift.
This is a no-nonsense trunking role with minimal manual handling.
Key Duties
Trunking between depots and hubs
Securing loads safely and legally
Completing delivery paperwork accurately
Following safe driving practices at all times
Assisting with shunting duties if required
Requirements
Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence with at least 6 months’ experience
Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card
No more than 6 penalty points (no DD, DR, IN10 offences)
A positive, safety-first attitude
Pay & Benefits
£17.75 per hour (PAYE)
£70 monthly night allowance
Monday to Friday – no weekend working
Minimum 8-hour shifts (typically 20:30 – 06:30)
Holiday pay accrued based on hours worked
Pension scheme available
Temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidates
