HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver

Location: Lutterworth, Leicestershire
Salary: £36,000 per annum, with an increase following successful completion of a 5-month probation period
Hours: 45 hours per week
Night Outs: 2–3 nights per week, with £25 tax-free night-out payment plus subsistence allowance

The Opportunity

I am currently recruiting experienced HGV Class 2 HIAB Drivers on behalf of my client, an award-winning international designer and manufacturer of premium surfaces for the commercial and residential interiors sector.

Following the relocation of my client’s Head Office and Distribution Centre to Lutterworth, Leicestershire, they are expanding their existing driver team and are looking for experienced, professional drivers to join the business.

My client prides itself on providing a premium delivery service, and its drivers play a key role in maintaining this reputation. You will be responsible for ensuring large engineered stone slabs are transported and delivered safely and efficiently to customers across the UK.

This is more than simply a driving position. As a customer-facing representative of the business, you will build and maintain strong relationships with an established and loyal customer base while providing a professional and reliable service.

The Role

The successful candidate will operate one of my client’s well-equipped HGV vehicles and will be responsible for the safe transportation and delivery of premium stone products.

You will work 45 hours per week, with flexibility required around start times. The role involves 2–3 nights away from home each week, using a fully equipped sleeper cab.

In addition to the basic salary, drivers receive a £25 tax-free payment for each night out, together with a subsistence meal allowance.

This position would particularly suit someone with previous driving experience within a builders’ merchant, construction materials, stone, timber or similar distribution environment.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  * A valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence

  * Current HIAB certification

  * Up-to-date Driver CPC

  * At least 2 years’ experience in a similar driving position

  * No more than 3 points on your driving licence

  * A solid and reliable employment history

  * Clear and professional communication skills

  * Flexibility to accommodate varying start times

  * A professional, presentable and polite approach

  * A careful and considerate driving style

  * Willingness to stay away 2–3 nights per week
