HGV Yard Driver – Dursley
Location: Dursley, Gloucestershire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:00 (45 hours per week)
Overtime: Available as required
Salary: £28,000 – £29,500 per year

About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced HGV Yard Driver to join a busy vehicle operations and maintenance facility based in Dursley. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled driver who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to develop their career with a well-established organisation.
You’ll be responsible for the safe movement and positioning of heavy goods vehicles around the yard and between operational areas, supporting the workshop, logistics, and delivery teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
*
Safely drive and manoeuvre HGVs (including specialist and refuse vehicles) within the yard and between designated areas.

Position vehicles for inspection, servicing, loading, and unloading.
*
Carry out basic vehicle checks and report any defects or issues.
*
Assist with reversing and docking procedures as required.
*
Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements and yard activity.
*
Follow all health and safety procedures at all times.
*
Support workshop and logistics teams with vehicle preparation and coordination.
Requirements
*
Valid HGV Licence (Class 2 minimum; Class 1 preferred).
*
Previous experience operating HGVs in a yard, depot, or workshop environment.
*
Strong understanding of vehicle safety and yard protocols.
*
Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and follow instructions.
*
Flexible and reliable approach to work and working hours.
Desirable Skills
*
Forklift licence or experience operating yard equipment.
*
Basic mechanical knowledge of commercial or refuse vehicles.
*
Familiarity with yard management systems or transport coordination.
