Job Title: HGV Driver / Yard Operative
Location: East Sussex
Salary: £34,000- £35,000
Hours: Week 1: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm and Week 2: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm + Saturday, 8:00am – 12:30pm

Due to our continued growth and success, we are looking for a committed and reliable HGV Driver / Yard Operative to join our busy team in East Sussex.
Role Overview
This is a dual-role position combining responsibilities as a Class 2 HGV Driver and a Yard Operative. You will be responsible for the safe delivery of materials to trade and domestic customers, and for supporting daily operations in the yard including stock management, loading/unloading, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
As HGV Driver
*
Safely operate HGV (Class 2) vehicles for customer deliveries and collections
*
Deliver goods promptly and accurately to both trade and domestic customers
*
Complete daily vehicle safety checks and ensure roadworthiness
*
Operate HIAB/crane equipment (if applicable) following safety protocols
*
Maintain accurate delivery records and report any discrepancies
*
Provide outstanding customer service and represent the company professionally on every delivery
As Yard Operative
*
Load and unload stock using forklifts or manual handling as required
*
Check incoming deliveries for quality and accuracy
*
Organise and store materials in line with company procedures
*
Pick and prepare customer orders for collection or delivery
*
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised yard environment
*
Assist walk-in customers in a friendly and helpful manner
*
Follow all site Health & Safety regulations and report hazards as necessary
Requirements
*
Valid Class 2 HGV Licence (essential)
*
HIAB Licence (preferred – training can be provided)
*
Forklift Licence (advantageous)
*
Previous experience in a builder’s merchant or similar environment is desirable
*
Strong customer service skills and professional attitude
*
Good communication and time-management abilities
*
Strong awareness of Health & Safety practices
