HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician / Commercial Vehicle Fitter (Manchester – 4 on 4 off)
Location: Manchester
Salary: £53,(Apply online only) – £63,(Apply online only)
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (12-hour shifts)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Fitter to join a busy, well-established main dealer workshop in Manchester. Working on a 4-on-4-off shift, you’ll enjoy excellent pay, a modern working environment, and genuine opportunities for training and progression within a respected commercial vehicle group.
Key Responsibilities of an HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician / HGV Fitter
Carry out servicing, maintenance, and safety inspections on HGVs and trailers
Perform diagnostics and mechanical repairs on a range of commercial vehicles
Conduct brake, suspension, axle, and structural repairs (including welding)
Maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections, and compliance documents
Ensure work meets DVSA and manufacturer standards
Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a safe and productive workshop
Requirements for the HGV Mechanic Role / HGV Technician / HGV Fitter
Proven experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician
NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding ability
Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 licence preferred but not essential)
Desirable
IRTEC accreditation
