HGV Mechanic / Plant Fitter
Location: Co. Kildare (site / workshop-based role with travel to sites as required)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: From €45,000+ per year / hourly rate (DOE)
Benefits: Company van, overtime available
About the role:
We are recruiting an experienced HGV Mechanic / Plant Fitter for a civil engineering and road surfacing contractor working across Leinster. You'll be responsible for keeping a mixed fleet of HGVs, surfacing plant, and heavy machinery in safe, reliable working order.
Key duties:
Service, inspection and repair of HGVs, road surfacing equipment, and general plant
On-site and workshop-based diagnostics and troubleshooting
Recording all work carried out (service sheets, defect reports, etc.)
Carrying out pre-use checks and ensuring equipment is safe and compliant
Coordinating with operations/site teams to schedule maintenance and reduce downtime
Attending breakdowns and providing efficient repair, including occasional out-of-hours response
Managing/ordering parts and consumables
Working in line with Health & Safety procedures at all timesWhat you need:
Trade qualification as HGV Mechanic / Plant Fitter (or equivalent)
Previous experience maintaining HGVs and heavy construction plant
Strong fault-finding and electrical/mechanical diagnostic ability
Full clean driving licence (HGV licence a plus)
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team
Good communication and record-keeping skills
Welding / fabrication and hydraulic systems experience is an advantage
Safe Pass and Manual Handling (or willingness to obtain)Benefits: Company van, overtime available, pension, health insurance, career progression.
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, with flexibility for overtime / emergency call-outs.
