Job Description
Role Overview: HGV Technician
*
Shift Pattern: 4-on, 4-off (12-hour shifts)
*
Salary Breakdown:
*
Days: £43,000
*
Split Shift (Days & Nights): £48,000
*
Nights: £51,000
Key Responsibilities (HOVIS Vehicle Services Specification)
*
Servicing & Maintenance:Perform routine servicing, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance across the fleet (e.g., 16T DAF, 7.2T Iveco Daily, and larger distribution units).
*
Diagnostics:Perform mechanical and electrical fault-finding using commercial diagnostic tools (e.g., Texa systems).
*
MOT & Safety Inspections: Prepare commercial vehicles and trailers to DVSA standards for MOT testing.
*
Ancillary Maintenance:Inspect, service, and repair tail lifts, shutter doors, and bodywork components.
*
Compliance & Records:Ensure all vehicle defect reports, job cards, and maintenance logs meet strict road safety and DVSA compliance standards.
Candidate Requirements
*
Essential: NVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds / equivalent qualification) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
*
Preferred (Not Essential):Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) driving licence.
*
Skills & Experience:
*
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities on commercial vehicles.
*
Familiarity with DVSA inspection guidelines.
*
Ability to work effectively on a 12-hour 4-on, 4-off rotaBefore You Apply
