Job Description

We are recruiting for the position of HGV Technician on behalf of our client, a well-established and reputable automotive group committed to providing exceptional service and supporting staff development. Competitive hourly rate of up to £23, depending on experience
Overtime paid at 1.5 times the basic rate, with additional pay on Saturday mornings
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with one in two Saturday morning shifts

Performing major and minor repairs on heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and other commercial vehicles
Conducting routine inspections, preventative maintenance, including tyre rotations and oil changes
Diagnosing vehicle faults accurately and implementing appropriate repairs
Maintaining a clean workshop and managing inventory of parts and tools
Keeping detailed records of repairs, inspections, and service history
Carrying out emergency repairs at customer locations when required
Completing warranty claims, service documentation, and escalating issues as needed
Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulationsRequirements:

Level 3 (NVQ, City and Guilds, or IMI) qualification in HGV Vehicle Repair and Maintenance or equivalent
Proven experience working as an HGV Technician or in a similar position
Full UK driving licence relevant to the vehicle classes worked on
Strong diagnostic and repair skills with a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance
Ability to identify faults in line with DVSA standards
Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively within a team and liaising with customers
